Linha de Passe - Walyer Salles (2008 Brazil)

Sao Paulo. There are 20 million inhabitants in Sau Paulo, 200 kilometers of traffic, 300,000 messengers on motorcycles. At the heart of one of the toughest, most chaotic cities in the world, four brothers try to reinvent themselves in different ways. With the backdrop of Brazil in a state of emergency, every single one is looking for a way out.

"Linha de Passe reunites Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas, co–directors of ''Foreign Land'', and introduces a young family of young actors making their screen debut"

Just incredible. Shot in a wonderfully dreamlike, documentary style fusing real crowds with the story. A much more personal film for Salles than 'the motorcycle diaries'. A heartbreaking meditation on life.

Los Cronocrimenes (aka Timecrimes) - Nacho Vigalondo (2007 Spain)

A man accidentally gets into a time machine and travels back in time nearly an hour. Finding himself will be the first of a series of disasters of unforeseeable consequences.

Excellent, smart, and sassy thriller with a twist. A great example of how to make a compelling sci-fi film with very little money.
